California Southern University was established in the state of California in 1978 for the purpose of meeting the educational needs of working adults who could not attend traditional educational institutions due to professional, personal, or financial constraints. CalSouthern recognized that work, personal obligations, and lack of accessibility created an obstacle that prevented degree seeking adults from realizing their dreams.

Human rights

International human rights law began as a response to the horrors of war, in particular World War II, although the Geneva Conventions had begun earlier. The formation of the United Nations gave human rights international legitimacy, particularly because many nations signed the United Nations Charter, which specifically mentions human rights.
